Everything You Need to Know about Invisalign

Invisalign Treatment

Many people wish to improve their smiles but do not want the bulky hardware that comes as a treatment. As a more attractive and advanced option, they are turning towards Invisalign treatment.

If you want to straighten your teeth but are not sure about Invisalign braces, here’s everything you need to know about them:

What is Invisalign Treatment?

Invisalign treatment is a modern alternative to traditional metal braces. Whether your teeth have crowding, gaps, overbite, or an underbite, they can be straightened with Invisalign treatment, which uses clear tray aligners.

The plastic trays using the mold of your mouth are created efficiently. They put the required pressure on the problem areas in your teeth to slowly shift them to the correct position.

Invisalign braces are replaced every one to two weeks with the intent to keep your teeth moving in the right direction. They are required to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day and removed only when flossing or brushing your teeth and eating. In appearance, they mimic a retainer, but they reposition your teeth instead of holding them in place.

The Process

During the initial meeting with your dentist, you will talk about the issues you have with your teeth and figure out your ultimate goal. The dentist will then examine your teeth to determine whether Invisalign braces are the right option for you and discuss if you have any questions.

If both of you conclude that Invisalign treatment is the best option for you, you will discuss the cost and time duration it will take to achieve your new smile. The dentist will also explain the Invisalign uses and their benefits.

Molding

The next step involves the dentist getting a mold of your teeth. This happens digitally by capturing a 3D image of your teeth using a special scanner. It is then sent to the Invisalign lab to create custom aligners, which are trimmed and checked for quality before being sent back to your dentist.

Checking the Fit and Follow-Up

Once the aligners are ready, you will need to head to your dentist to make sure they fit appropriately and efficiently. Your dentist will help you try them on and, if required, add small, temporary attachments to help them stay in place. Once the fit is okay and approved, the Invisalign treatment begins.

A few weeks post your fitting, you will need to meet your dentist again for a follow-up. Your tray fit and progress will be examined to ensure that everything is working the way it should be. After that, you will switch out Invisalign braces every one to two weeks on your own. There is no need for regular dentist appointments, unlike a traditional braces treatment. All you need to do is keep track of your progress or address any issues with your dentist. At the end of your Invisalign treatment, you will have the straight teeth that you always wanted.
